Our Story
A child should never feel distant from their family because of language.
Hi, I'm Rupinder, founder of RasRoots and mom to Rasgun. As my daughter began discovering the world around her, I wanted her to know its everyday words in Punjabi, the language of her grandparents, our family, and her roots.
I knew we could teach her through conversations, stories, and songs, but I wanted something that would make her curious to listen, touch, repeat, and learn. When I couldn't find the right Punjabi talking toy for her, I realized many families were looking for the same support.
That is how RasRoots was born.
RasRoots is an interactive, screen-free Punjabi learning machine that uses colourful pictures, sounds, touch points, and quizzes to make learning feel like play. Along with building Punjabi vocabulary, it supports object association, listening, memory, fine motor skills, and hand-eye coordination.
It is not meant to replace conversations with parents or grandparents. It is designed to create more of them, to help families introduce new words, practice together, and make Punjabi a natural part of everyday life.
The name is deeply personal to us. “Ras” comes from our daughter Rasgun's name and also represents the sweet essence and joy of learning. “Roots” reflects the language, culture, family, and heritage we hope every child remains connected to. Together, RasRoots represents learning with joy while staying close to where we come from.
Created by a small Canadian family, RasRoots is more than a toy. It is a bridge between generations, helping little voices speak the language their families hold close to their hearts.
